Renewable heat transformation at one of Wales’ most iconic heritage destinations. ESP Energy delivered a turnkey biomass district heating system in the coastal village of Portmeirion, North Wales, replacing over 30 inefficient oil and electric boilers. This centralised renewable heat network now supplies clean, low-carbon energy to 27 properties, including hotels, holiday cottages, restaurants, shops, and Castell Deudraeth. Using locally sourced wood fuel, the new biomass boiler system offsets over 100,000 litres of heating oil annually and significantly reduces both fuel bills and emissions, while preserving the charm and heritage of this unique Welsh location. The entire project was handled in-house by ESP Energy, ensuring full control, compliance, and continuity.
